It snowed... and then it snowed some more

We had a blizzard warning last week for our area. Fortunately the kids and Lisa were out of school/work for spring break, and I took time off to be with them and do some painting (see future post... whenever I get around to it). It just came in overnight and snowed for one long day. The day before was sunny and in the 50's, and the day following was partly cloudy. I really like the spring storms in Colorado where it dumps a lot of snow over a very short time... as long as we don't need to leave the house.

View from the front of the house looking east

Some parts of the deck didn't accumulate snow due to the heavy winds

Parts of the deck that accumulated were buried pretty good

The pond (on the right) is completely buried

The missionaries were nice enough to come by and shovel the driveway

Nate and I walked across the street to the park

Looking west, we can usually see the Flatirons from here

came inside to warm up with hot chocolate in Mom's Allstate mug!

Sounds like we are going to get 2-6 inches tomorrow, and more on Saturday!

Sunshine and Soccer

Flying across the field.

Winding up for a kick!

I think that some of my best days have been spent watching soccer in the sun. I love watching Nathan play. Slide tackling and headers are fantastic feats that I will never be able to do but to watch Nate do them is like magic. How does he do it and make it seem so easy and effortless. He is quick. It is also my pleasure after games to hear about the cool things he did on the field and enthusiastically answer all of the questions of " did you see me do this and that". Of course I am as thrilled as he is when we have a winning game, but I just love to watch him play.

Bizkit the Sleep Walking Dog

I thought our dog, Leo, was fun to watch when he had his occasional dreams of chasing rabbits or whatever goes on between those two neurons in his head, but he is no match for Bizkit:

Gooooooaaaaal!!!

Nathan participated in his first soccer tournament of the new year this weekend. After yesterday's games concluded, our team was tied in the standings with another team. A shootout was setup to decide who would advance. After the other teams player shot and made his goal, it was time for our team to shoot. Nathan was chosen to take the first shot for his team:

That was a beautiful shot into the top left corner! The next 4 players on the other team missed their shots, and the last player on ours made it so that we advanced to the next round. It was exciting. Nice job Nate!
