Alaskan Governor Sarah Palin's now famous quip that the only difference between a pitbull and a hockey mom is lipstick may now apply to Lisa. The boys laced up their rollerblades for the first time in the past >5 years and had a really good time playing roller hockey. They actually didn't look too bad on the blades considering the time off. Here are some videos of Austin vs. Nate:

Can I Get a What? What? From the Senior Section?
I don't care if you're pro- or anti-Palin, it doesn't get any funnier than this:
Lisa and I have watched this soooo many times and it still brings tears of laughter such that I can't finish it without pausing and catching my breath. "Plumbers pull your pants up!!" Amy Poehler cracks me up anytime she does the rapping on SNL, but a ready-to-explode-pregnant Poehler is even better. She even shoots a moose while Todd points to Alaska!! Hysterical!
Also check out the opening skit. I don't know which is better: Alec Baldwin calling her Caribou Barbie to her face, the way Tina Fey says "bye" when she finds out the real Palin is there, or the fact that even Palin acknowledges that she won't take questions from the media ("liberal elite or just liberal"). Nicely done.

That's gonna leave a mark!
I caught an elbow just right last night while playing basketball. I thought it was just a goose egg until I went to rub it and my finger fell into a hole in my forehead. My forehead was split wide open and was really bleeding. Fortunately one of the guys on my team is an MD with teenagers. He keeps all of the necessary supplies to stitch people up at his house for just these situations. That was great since we were in and out of his house in less than 20 minutes (anyone ready for another game?) instead of spending the next 3 hours at the emergency room. 7 stitches in all. I was a little worried when he said that the lidocaine was a few months past its due date, but it worked just fine. There is really nothing like getting stitched up in someone's kitchen while watching TV. Too bad the hospitals aren't more like that. Anyway, after our game next week I'll go back over and he'll take them out. I'm thinking either Harry Potter or Frankenstein for halloween this year.

For Mom
You should have a dog like this for when you miss me:
(Insider information: Mom says I always escaped from my crib at a young age causing her to wonder whether she should invert the crib onto me. I still wonder whether she only pondered such thoughts or put them into action...)

More fun in Colorado Springs
Our last post had some impressive futbol action from Nathan's game in Colorado Springs, CO. Yesterday we got up early for Austin's 9am freshman football game in Colorado Springs. Here is a short video and some pictures from the game:

We also packed Austin a change of clothes so that after the game and some lunch we could head over to Garden of the Gods (probably the best thing about Colorado Springs outside of the Air Force Academy, Olympics training center, and Rodeo Hall of Fame). Here are a few pictures from our travels around the Garden of the Gods:
Both teams were undefeated going in suggesting that we may have our work cut out for us. A win would be great, but no one would've predicted that we would end up crushing them 34-0! Nice job Austin and team.

Doing some very amateurish bouldering around the "Garden"

It is not very often that your "cool" teenager let's his guard down and acts goofy
