Hace Frio! It was bitter cold here in Colorado today, as it was in most of the US this weekend. We got about 4-5 inches of snow last night, but we didn't enjoy it the way we usually do (sleds, snowball fights, snowman building, etc...) due to the extreme arctic temperatures. Fortunately it wasn't all cabin fever: the sun came out around 1pm and so the boys and I took a walk down to the little lake at the end of our street. Yesterday there were about 200 Canadian geese and roughly 25 seagulls (I know!! Where do the seagulls come from, right?) in the non-frozen part of the middle of the lake. But today when Austin, Nathan, and I went back to check on them the lake was completely frozen over, the geese were gone (Mexico? If they're smart they did!), and only the seagulls remained. It was very pretty to have the fresh snow and sun shining, but very very cold - especially when you get close to the lake and have the wind come whipping up at you.

Only about 2 inches thick at the edge, but after tonight it will surely be thicker!

It was fun to see the rock break through and the air bubbles and waves formed under the ice.

On the walk/run back home (it is cold out here... of course we ran!) Nathan traveled by snow boot ice skating on the frozen creek.
